Southern Italy’s first ski resort is located in Calabria. Featuring about 10 km of ski slopes and chairlifts running up Monte Scirocco.

Gamberie is famous for offering winter skiing and summer hiking with rare, panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea, the Strait of Messina, and Mount Etna. It’s also a popular summer escape from the coastal heat, offering cool pine forests and hiking paths like the route to the Tre Aie picnic area. Founded in the 1920s, and historically linked to Giuseppe Garibaldi, who was wounded nearby in the Aspromonte mountains. It’s roughly a 35-40 minute drive from Reggio Calabria.
